B. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and deliver engaging lessons in History (Forms I–VI) and at least one related subject (Civics/Geography/General Studies) aligned to NECTA.
- Develop schemes of work, lesson plans, assessments and marking guides; set, invigilate and mark tests/examinations.
- Teach core History competencies: source analysis & evaluation, chronology & timelines, thematic/period studies, DBQ/essay writing, debates and projects.
- Where applicable, teach Civics/Geography/General Studies skills: governance & citizenship, map work & fieldwork basics, contemporary issues & research projects.
- Integrate practical learning (mini-research, oral history, archives/field visits); maintain accurate records and gradebooks (Excel/Google Sheets).
- Use continuous assessment data to drive remediation and enrichment; provide timely feedback to learners and guardians.
- Uphold classroom management, safeguarding, professional standards and ethical conduct per Tanzanian law and school policy.
- Participate in departmental meetings, moderation and continuous professional development; support clubs (History/Current Affairs).
- Act as a class teacher and handle school fees collection responsibilities in addition to regular duties.
C. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education (B.Ed) or Bachelor’s + PGDE from a recognized institution.
- Full teacher registration/licensing with the relevant Tanzanian authorities (per MoE/PO‑RALG guidelines).
- 5–7+ years successful teaching experience at secondary level, with at least 2–3 years in a leadership/coordinator role (e.g., Head of Department, Academic/Discipline Master/Mistress, Section Lead).
- Strong command of NECTA curriculum, assessment standards, schemes of work, moderation, and data‑driven improvement.
- Demonstrated people leadership: mentoring teachers, conducting lesson observations, feedback & coaching, managing performance and appraisal cycles.
- Proven school operations capability: timetabling, duty rotas, exam administration, attendance, safeguarding & incident reporting.
- Excellent communication (Kiswahili & English), stakeholder engagement (parents, community, authorities), and professional conduct.
- Solid ICT skills for academics & administration (Word/Excel/Google Workspace; basic MIS/EMIS usage).
- Up‑to‑date Child Protection/Safeguarding awareness and commitment to student welfare.
- Knowledge of Tanzanian labour & education compliance (e.g., staff records, leave, basic ELRA awareness in school settings).
